Seance Room

This was an environment, my peer Audrey Born and I created in a representation of how real seance room's used to be like when they first started. From illusions to simple tricks, that fooled whoever tried their luck.

Our inspiration came from Glessner Lee's Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Deaths. This study was composed of 20 small dioramas that recreated real cold cases in great detail but at a miniature scale. These dioramas were mainly used for training homicide investigators and they worked so well that some of them are still used to this day. Lee was an American forensic scientist that helped in developing the science of forensics in the US. She is known as the "mother of forensic science" and her dioramas are now considered works of art.

We also researched the most popular mediums, including the Fox sisters and Kathleen Goligher, as well as looking at more modern seance style rooms.
