WIP "Statue of Christ" - 3D Scan in VR Experience

Hey everyone!

This is my first project where I will be using a 3D scan of a statue I took while in Savannah. My goal is to create a small VR experience where I will use this statue as the hero asset of the experience. I'm currently sketching what I want to do and I look forward to showing everyone an update soon!

Stay tuned!

"Display.land" is an amazing and powerful app I really enjoy using in my workflow recently. It allows me to create 3D models with specific textures, so I don't have to redo them from scratch. I also really like how instead of modeling from a reference image like its usually done, now you get to scan an environment and get the scale of everything. You can use that as a reference to model things faster and closer to its actual size. Amazing quality and really user friendly, basically anyone with a phone has the ability to go out and 3D scan!

In this PDF tutorial, I will show you how to export your 3D model from the Display.land app and get it ready to be sent down the pipeline.

Here's a link so you can check the app out!

Once you import the raw mesh you got from the 3D scan, since its very high poly and not clean, I retopologized it in ZBrush to save some time and then created its UV's with Headus UV Layout. Then I baked the texture from the raw model onto the new model.
